Escape Room for Families Planned for Greenwich Reads Together

The Greenwich Library will host Escape Room: Code Crisis, an interactive code-breaking gaming experience on Saturday, November 3. Several 30-minute sessions will be held on the hour from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Children’s Constellation Room on the second floor. This event is part of the community-wide programming for Greenwich Reads Together 2018.

The mission:  It’s November of 1943. Uncle Sam put out an urgent call for volunteers to learn code-breaking, calling on patriots to assist the Allied efforts in breaking Axis codes. The very future of Western Democracy depends on discovering the plans of the enemy before permanent damage can be done. Your group joined the effort immediately, and you are among the best and brightest to have completed the entire training. Today is your final exam. You must enter the test room, investigate it thoroughly, find all the clues and collaboratively decipher them and follow their leads. Your challenge is to solve all ciphers, codes, riddles, and puzzles in thirty minutes. Good luck!

Ages 8 and up are invited to Escape Room, and all those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and can be done by visiting the library’s online calendar at greenwichlibrary.org or by calling 203-622-7940. Please note you may only register for one session and must arrive promptly for your time slot. This pop-up adventure is brought to you by DeadLocked Escape Rooms, an immersive escape room company where you can stretch your mind and have fun with friends in Stamford. Greenwich Reads Together is a reading experience that draws together the community of Greenwich around a single book. This year’s selection is Code Girls by Liza Mundy, which tells the story of how more than ten thousand young women were recruited by the U.S. Army and Navy from small towns and elite colleges to serve as codebreakers during World War II.
