(UPDATED: Friday, Oct. 26 at 11:05 p.m.) Saturday is going to be a wild one throughout Greenwich and the Tri-state area, as heavy rains and winds are expected to batter the area starting overnight tonight.

As of this post, the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning, a flash flood watch and a wind advisory for Greenwich. The rain, which is predicted to dump one to two inches on Greenwich and the surrounding area, is expected to develop after midnight and will finally taper off Saturday early afternoon.

The winds will also be a problem during the storm, as winds from the east will range between 20 and 30 mile per hour, with gusts expected up to 50 miles per hour and will last from late tonight until Saturday morning.

The coastal flood warning is in effect from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, as tides are expected to be 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 feet above astronomical tides. The NWS states that due to the heavy rains, winds and tides along the coast, widespread flooding will flood parking lots, parks, lawns and homes and businesses near the waterfront.

In addition to the coastal flood warning, the NWS has issued a flash flood watch that is in effect from 5 a.m. on Saturday until Saturday afternoon at 5, as one to two inches of rainfall is expected. The heavy rainfall, along with clogged drains from leafs, will pose a threat for flash flooding. Also adding to the flash flood watch is the rising tides on Saturday morning.

The NWS states that the wind advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. on Saturday until 5 p.m. A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 miles per hour, or gusts of 46 to 57 miles per hour are expected or occurring.
