Greenwich Land Trust (GLT) is planning a variety of fall activities, designed to get us outside, teach us about nature and help us enjoy the open space throughout our community.

Fall Walk: Forests, Fields and Ponds
Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Join GLT Conservation Educator Dean Fausel for a guided, medium intensity, family-friendly, naturalist walk through the forests, meadows, and ponds of the 18-acre Sargent-Gildersleeve-Stone Preserve. The walk is free and will take place at Sargent Gildersleeve Stone Preserve, 2 Sterling Rd. Please wear appropriate footwear. Pre-registration is required at gltrust.org/event/fall-walk-forests

Lantern Stroll
Friday, Oct. 26, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Get in the mood for Halloween! Join GLT for a family-friendly stroll in the woods on a lantern-lit trail through the Mueller Preserve. They’ll also have autumn arts & crafts, stories in the barn, cider and popcorn. The program takes place at the Mueller Preserve, 370 Round Hill Rd. The cost is: $20 member families; $25 non-member families. Registration is required at gltrust.org/event/lantern-stroll

Autumn Leaves Botanical Drawing Class
Thursday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fall landscape is filled with beautiful botanical textures and colors. Join renowned Botanical Artist Jeanne Reiner for a botanical drawing class focused on fall leaves. Students will take a walk around GLT’s Mueller Preserve, led by Conservation and Outreach Director Steve Conaway Ph.D., to collect drawing materials. The class will focus on sketching leaves in perspective, design a composition and practice a variety of techniques using either colored pencils or pan pastel. Art supplies and snacks will be provided for class use; students are encouraged to bring lunch. The location for the event is the Mueller Preserve, 370 Round Hill Rd. the cost is $65 per person. Volunteer Opportunities

Starting in October, GLT welcomes volunteers at its Mueller Preserve to help with fall gardening projects. This fall, they will focus on their Seed-to-Seed initiative, dedicated to restoring native plants to the local landscape through community outreach, plant propagation, and habitat restoration.
