ASOG Presents ‘The A to Z of Acrylics’ Lecture

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, the Art Society of Old Greenwich (ASOG) will sponsor a free lecture demo by Patti Mollica of Golden Paints entitled “The A to Z of Acrylics.” The event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd.

“This Golden Acrylic Lecture Demo is a fun, fast-paced informative two-hour lecture covering a technical review of acrylics and their varied application possibilities. The lecture demo will present information on pigments types, characteristics, heavy body, fluids, OPEN paints, gels, mediums, pastes, iridescents, and much more,” according to the “The A to Z of Acrylics ” description. During the lecture, attendees will:

• Learn how acrylics can be used as grounds for other media, such as oil, watercolor, pastel or colored pencil.
• Get key information on color mixing for brilliant hues, blending and controlling drying time.
• See how gels can be used to modify paint properties or create unique textural surfaces.

The Art Society of Old Greenwich welcomes all to this free event. You do not need to be an ASOG member. Walk-ins are welcome.

Patti Mollica is a Certified Teacher for Golden Paints and conducts workshops throughout the U.S., covering topics such as “Innovative Acrylic Techniques using Golden Paints,” as well as “How to Paint Fast, Loose and Bold.” She is the author of four books: How to Paint Fast, Loose and Bold; Modern Acrylics; Color Theory; and Acrylics – Getting Started, as well as three instructional painting DVD’s, Value; Brushwork; and Color Techniques, published by Northlight Books.
