Chamber Players to Perform in First Concerts of the Season

chamber-players-18-19-season

The Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony will present “Key and Reeds” to open their 47th season, on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. The concert will take place at Round Hill Community Church, 395 Round Hill Rd.

The Trio, by Dutch-German Julius Röntgen, features an uncommon combination of sonorities – flute with two double reeds, the oboe, and bassoon.

Written in 1876, the Rimsky-Korsakov Quintet for Piano and Winds shows the Russian master using various contrapuntal and coloristic techniques, along with luscious accompaniments, to develop characteristic melodies.

The players for this concert are Susan Rotholz, Diane Lesser, Philip Bashor, Mark Davies, Peter Reit and Andrew Gordon.

The audience is invited to a wine and cheese reception with the musicians after the concert.

The concert will be repeated on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m., at the Greenwich Arts Council, 299 Greenwich Ave.

Tickets are: adults, $30; students, $10; season, $90, available at the door or via their website. For more information, call 203-637-4725 or visit chamberplayersofthegso.org
