To the Editor:
I am a lifelong Democrat, but I support Republican Bob Stefanowski for governor.
We need in this campaign — Democrats, Republicans, independents — to con-front the truth about our Connecticut. I recently researched the financial condition of the state where we have our home and found to my great dismay that it is in as poor shape, by some measures, as any of the 50 states. The inflow of people into the state once exceeded the outflow. Today the reverse is true. The state is strangled with unfunded pension benefits and unfunded retiree health care benefits.
The truth is that the Democrats in Hartford have surrendered Connecticut’s financial well-being to organizations whose only interest is serving their own parochial interests. It is long past due for the financial management of the state to be returned to leadership that will govern in the public interest. Bob Stefanowski has set aside his highly successful business career to provide professional management to the state. We need, regardless of our own party affiliation, to support him.
