Police have arrested a New York City man they believe is connected to a violent home invasion which occurred this past weekend in a home on Brook Drive in Greenwich.

According to the Greenwich Police Department, officers were called to a private residence on Aug. 4 at about 3 p.m., on a report of a home invasion robbery. Arriving officers found a victim inside the home who was restrained and bleeding from injuries.

“The victim reported that he had been bound and beaten by a group of armed individuals who had forced their way into his home demanding cash and jewelry,” GPD said in a statement on Wednesday.

Authorities collected evidence and interviewed witnesses, which ultimately led to the arrest of Hassan Washington, 46, of New York City, on Aug. 7. Greenwich detectives, with the help of the N.Y. Violent Crimes Task Force, located Washington and obtained a warrant from Stamford Superior Court for his arrest which included provisions of extradition to Connecticut and court-set bond of $500,000.

On Tuesday, agents and officers from the FBI and NYPD arrested Washington at his address.

Washington is currently being held in New York and is charged with home invasion, robbery, kidnapping, assault and larceny.

“Evidence indicated this was a targeted incident and not a random act,” said GPD spokesman, Lt. John Slusarz.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected, the GPD said.
