Jane S. Hawkins, age 78, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home after a hard fought battle with cancer on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Jane was born on March 14, 1940 in New York City on a damp, brisk late winter Thursday, the second of three children born to Bromley S. Stone and Mary W. Ives. Jane grew up in Oyster Bay, Long Island.

She graduated from Fox Hollow School in Lenox, Mass. She often spoke fondly of her time spent in Washington with family and particularly her maternal Granny. Shortly after graduation she ventured back to the city and began her career at ABC Studios as an office manager and secretary in the News Division. While at ABC she was introduced to the love of her life Ronnie “The Capt” Hawkins, a director in the Sports Division. They were married on Jan. 29, 1965 and in Sept. of 1969 they welcomed twin sons to the world.

In the summer of 1972 they moved with the boys to Riverside. One of Jane’s favorite things to do was spend time at Tod’s Point Beach doing her crossword puzzles and keeping a lookout on the sound.

Jane is survived by her beloved sons Christopher (Lisa) Hawkins of Ridgefield, Ronald “Scott” Hawkins (Denise) of Greenwich, brother George C. Stone of Seminole, Fla., sister Mary “Mimi” Medina of Alto Vista, Noord, Aruba, her adored and beloved grandchildren Michael Hawkins of Greenwich, Abigail, Thomas and Tyler Hawkins of Ridgefield, several nieces, nephew, great-nephew and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Ronnie in 1980.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 13 at 10 a.m., at St. Saviour’s Episopal Church, 350 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the at Cancer.org
