Nancy Nowe Schmidt, 88, passed away in her sleep on April 27 in Greenwich CT. She was born Nov. 6, 1929 to Ralph and Gertrude Nowe in Columbus, Ohio.
She was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School and the Ohio State University where she was in the Delta Gamma sorority. On March 15, 1955, she married James H. Schmidt in Columbus, Ohio. A dedicated wife and mother, Nancy also enjoyed tennis, gardening, sailing, holiday activities, classic movies and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Jim; her two sons Jim of Greenwich and Jeff of New Canaan; daughter-in-law Liz; six grandchildren Hillary, Alexandra, Charlotte, Andrew, James, and Anna; nephews Tom (Tucson, Ari.) and Doug Nowe, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, William and Robert. A private service was held May 12 for her immediate family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Connecticut Humane Society would be welcome.
