The Young Artists Philharmonic (YAP) will be honoring Mary Radcliffe, the President of Greenwich Symphony at its annual gala on Tuesday, May 8. Every year, the Young Artists Philharmonic honors notable figures in the community who are major contributors to music education.

“Mary has done a tremendous amount of work in advocacy in music education. She has provided so much for children through the Young People’s Concerts and we wanted to recognize her for all that she does. It’s also great to be able to honor her on National Music Teacher Appreciation Day’ says YAP Executive Director, Greg Robbins.

Young Artists Philharmonic has had a very successful year with a performance at the Yale School of Music and an open house event on April 30 for new students. YAP has also had very successful collaborations with Christ Church Greenwich Choir and Greenwich Symphony.

Later this month, YAP will hold a concert at the Italian Center of Stamford, followed by a trip to Italy in July.

‘The gala will be a great way to celebrate the milestones achieved this year and an opportunity to unveil some of the programming lined up for the 2018-2019 season’ says Claudia Silver, President of the Board.

The Young Artists Philharmonic will be showcasing its talented musicians during the evening. In addition, Remy LeBoeuf, grammy-nominated musician will be performing for guests.

The YAP annual gala will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m.. at the Greenwich Water Club at 49 River Rd. For tickets and for further information, please go to youngartistsphil.org

About the Young Artists Philharmonic

The Young Artists Philharmonic, now in its 58th season, is a regional youth orchestra serv- ing Fairfield and Westchester counties. With three orchestras, YAP provides a comprehensive classical music education in an orchestral setting to over 100 musicians, ages 7 to 18.

Over the years, the Young Artists Philharmonic has influenced generations of musicians. Alumni of the orchestra have gone onto further their music education at competitive music

schools and conservatories. Others have gone on to become Grammy award-winning musi- cians.

Students rehearse on Monday evenings under the batons of experienced conductors, and receive small ensemble coachings from a roster of accomplished masterclass artists.
