To the Editor:

On Saturday evening, April 21st, I was honored to receive the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol’s 2018 Chief’s Award.

I want to thank the Board of Directors of the Patrol, led by Peter Yeskey, and Brian Kelley, Chief of the Patrol, as well as all officers and members.

I also want to express my gratitude to former Selectman Paul Hicks, a mentor and long-time friend, who presented the award.

For more than 90 years, the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol (CCFPP) has been at the ready, 24/7, 365 days a year to serve their neighbors. Regardless of weather conditions, this diverse organization of men and women is dedicated to providing emergency services to the entire Town.

We are fortunate to have so many residents who so willingly give of their time to help others. CCFPP members must receive more than 100 hours of training a year – that is in addition to the time they spend responding to calls.

It is an honor for me as First Selectman to be able to continue my support of not only the CCFPP but all of the volunteer fire companies in Greenwich. Their collective community service helped Greenwich earn the designations of the Safest city to raise a family in 2017, and among the best place to live in Connecticut in 2018.

I am grateful to have received this honor and I hope that Town residents will join me in supporting the CCFPP.

Peter Tesei
Greenwich First Selectman
