The Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich (RMA) will host Ambassador Tom Niles speaking on “My Perspective on Foreign Affairs Today,” on Wednesday, April 4 at 11 a.m.

The Trump Administration has been in place for 14 months and already altered many of the norms and practices of the U.S. in foreign affairs. The imposition of tariffs, hardened stances toward North Korea and Iran, withdrawal from multi-lateral agreements, and the buildup of America’s armed forces signal shifts in U.S. policy. Has this enhanced our geo-political standing? What does this portend and where will it take our relations to other countries?

Ambassador Niles will tap his 36 years of experience and insights in the United States Foreign Service and subsequent international relations to assess the current situation and how it affects our national interests.

He served as Ambassador to Canada (1985-89), Ambassador to the European Union (1989-91), Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Canada (1991-93), and Ambassador to Greece (1993-97).

Ambassador Niles has since been President and Vice Chairman of the United States Council for International Business, which advances the global interests of American business both at home and abroad, promoting an open system of world trade, finance, and investment and is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy. He is a resident of Edgehill in Stamford.

The program takes place at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 West Putnam Ave. The Greenwich Retired Men’s Association offers a free program every Wednesday that is open to the public; no reservations are required. For additional information, visit greenwichrma.org or contact info@greenwichrma.org
