Mine eyes have seen the leaving of the wealthy from our state
They are fleeing to escape our heavy taxes that they hate
To Southern states with low tax rates they mostly now migrate
While Hartford just looks on
Oh, my goodness this is crazy!
Don’t our pols see this is crazy?
Are they stupid or just lazy?
How long till we’re all gone?
They imposed a tax on income where no tax had been before
Said it would be temporary, but increased it even more
They spent and spent like children set loose in a candy store
With no restraint at all
Oh, my goodness this is crazy!

The state soon lost all semblance of its Yankee stinginess
Malloy did us no service granting unions such largesse
The new contracts he gave them just contribute to the mess
That Hartford put us in

The home of brands that strode the world now watches as they flee
Tone deaf to all the warning signs from Immelt and GE
They “whistle past the graveyard” and hope no one will ever see
They have no clue at all

Then they come and ask us nicely won’t we once again please vote
To keep them in their sinecures so budgets they can bloat?
They show no shame for putting us all in a sinking boat
They just keep rowing on!
