Greenwich Choral Society Concert

The Greenwich Choral Society announces a concert, “Mystical Mozart,” featuring Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor on Saturday, March 17 at 4 p.m. Additional works to be performed include Benjamin Britten’s Jubilate Deo, Ralph Vaughn-Williams’ Antiphon, and Arvo Pärt’s moving Da pacem Domine.

In a letter to his father Leopold, Mozart mentioned a vow he had made to write a mass when he would bring his then-fiancée Constanze as his wife to Salzburg. Constanze sang the “Et incarnatus est” from the Great Mass at its premiere there in 1783.

The concert takes place at the Performing Arts Center, Greenwich High School, 10 Hillside Rd. Tickets are $45 and $38 with special prices for students, and can be ordered online at GreenwichChoralSociety.org or by calling 203-622-5136 (group sales are available by calling the GCS office).
