“Nothing brings a smile to my face like seeing the faces of our Boys and Girls Club Camp kids participating in our summer programs,” says Bobby Walker, Jr, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. “We have something for every child whether it’s a traditional outdoor experience at Camp Simmons, indoor fun and games at our Clubhouse Camp, or our special Teen Camp Program for kids 13-15.” The Boys and Girls Club has been offering meaningful and varied camp experience to meet the interests of youth.

Camp Simmons, located on 77 magnificent acres of wilderness on Lake Avenue in Greenwich offers 6-12 year old’s that wonderfully old-fashioned, traditional camp experience.  Activities include archery, climbing, canoeing, boating, fishing, swimming, arts & crafts, fine arts and nature-related projects.  Children have the opportunity to participate in many special events and themed days like Christmas in July, Soccer Olympics, and weekly fishing derbies!

Clubhouse Camp, located on Horseneck Lane in Greenwich, is a full service, air-conditioned facility with a multi-sport field house, soccer field, 25-meter pool, arts & crafts and a technology center for children ages 6-12. Here, children enjoy daily games of table tennis, bumper pool, and air hockey, as well as leisurely swims with their friends. Every day is special at the Clubhouse with themed days such as Funny Hat Day, Super Hero Day and the Summer Olympics! A Summer Brain Gain is offered in one-week modules, to prevent a summer time learning loss and foster creative thinking skills.

Teen Campers can dive into summer at the Clubhouse. Open to members ages 13-15, teens have access to a multi-sport court, soccer field, swimming pool, and a designated game room. Most of their time is spent off-site visiting attractions such as New York City, local beaches, amusement parks, sporting events and more!

“Time and time again, studies have shown that a meaningful camp experience gives children valuable life skills; it educates the whole child, and allows them the opportunity to explore and try new activities. Most importantly, it allows kids to unplug from technology and just have fun!”, says Walker.

Camp is available for as little as one week or for the entire season at $150 a week. All families who live or work in Greenwich are eligible to register for summer camp. The camps meet Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and runs from June 25 to August 24.

Registration begins Tuesday, Feb. 20. Call 203-869-3224 or visit bgcg.org/camps to download camp registration forms. For child care financial assistance, contact Care 4 kids at CTCare4kids.com
