After leading the Yale women’s lacrosse team to a 12-10 upset of then No. 24 Albany in the season opener this past Saturday at Reese Stadium, junior attacker Izzy Nixon (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. The league announced the award on Monday.

Nixon led the Bulldogs in points (1-3-4) and had 10 draw controls on Saturday — one shy of her career high. That included two critical draws in the final 3:34, helping Yale stymie a Great Danes comeback attempt. She also set up first-year attacker Kayla Duperrouzel (Fairfax Station, Va.) for an insurance goal with 2:03 to play.

Last year Nixon was second in the league with 87 draw controls, the second-best total by a Yale player in 14 years. She was a big part of the attack, finishing third on the team in points (26-14-40) and fifth in goals, and was an honorable mention All-Ivy League selection.

Yale next plays at Quinnipiac Wednesday at 3 p.m.
