Obituary: Inez M. Marella

Inez M. Marella, a Connecticut resident since 1975, passed away on Jan. 13, 2018.

She was born in Colle, Italy, in 1923, and was brought to southwestern Pennsylvania (Tower Hill Number 1) in 1930.

In 1940, she became Credit Clerk at Montgomery Wards in Morgantown, West Virginia, and then Credit Manager at the Royal Furniture Company, also in Morgantown. In 1955, she accepted a position in Clovis, New Mexico, as Chief Clerk of the U.S. Air Force and Exchange Commission until 1959, when she became the Credit and Collection Manager for the Morris Sewing Machine Company in Pittsburgh, Pa. 

The Company moved to New York City, and later she became the secretary and assistant to the Credit Manager of the Koppers Company. In 1968, she became Administrative Assistant to Harold J. Hudson, Jr. the Senior Vice President of General Re Corporation who was eventually elected its Chairman and CEO.

Retiring in 1988, she was active in the Seraphic Society in New York City, and since 2006, active in the Woman’s Club of Greenwich, chairing and serving on several committees.

She was the beloved daughter of Tancredi G. and Sebastiana Santolini Marella, and the loving sister of the late Celeste (the late Theodore) Lascaris, the late Louis (the late Betty) Marella, the late Philip D. Marella, his wife Cindy Marella, Dr. Medea M. Marella, Rose M. Betz and her husband Ronald, and Frank (the late Barbara) Marella, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial mass will be held in Greenwich at a future time. A private interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. in the summer.
