The Greenwich High School Band will take the stage in the Performing Arts Center for their annual Holiday Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

To get you into the holiday spirit, the entertainment begins with the Percussion Ensemble performing Good Tidings and Christmas Presence.

The Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Ensemble will follow the Percussion Ensemble.

Jazz Lab Band starts off with Shufflin’ the Blues Away by Mike Carubia and then plays a swinging, jazzy version of Jingle Bells by James Pierpont and Carl Strommen.

Next the Jazz Ensemble takes the stage to perform Movin’ Uptown from Echoes of San Juan Hill by Benny Carter and the very familiar Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Johnny Marks.

After intermission, the Concert Band will perform some classics: Holiday Greetings and Stille, Stille, Stille. And it wouldn’t be the holiday season without hearing the next piece: Scenes from The Nutcracker by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Symphony Band will delight the audience with Chanukah Medley, Tidings of Comfort and Joy, and The Holly and the Ivy.

The evening will conclude with the Wind Ensemble’s performance. They will begin with Fantasia on a 13th Century Carol by James L. Hosay, followed by Morning Alleluias for the Winter Solstice by Ron Nelson. For the finale, it will be Santa’s Journey by Roy W. Kaighin.

All are welcome and admission is free of charge.
