Lucy Henriette Morone, 67, peacefully entered eternal rest on Dec. 2, following a six-month battle with cancer. Lucy was born on Staten Island, N.Y., to Frances and Clairette Rotunno, on Sept. 14, 1950.
She was a resident of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Greenwich, both of which she considered home. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, a dedicated and accomplished educator and a talented painter. Lucy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the City University of New York, Hunter College. She was passionate about travel, dance, literature, film and spending time with her family.
Lucy is survived by her children: Melissa Morone Sommer, Jennifer Morone and Joseph Morone; her granddaughter Everest Sommer; brother Joseph Rotunno, and countless friends and family who loved her dearly.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m.
