Letter: Bernstein Knows What it Takes to Get Things Done

lettertotheeditor

To the Editor,

No position in Greenwich town government is more important than a seat on the Board of Education. They have the most employees, the biggest operating budget and the most facilities to maintain. They hire the Superintendent. They watch out for our children.

There are no easy Board meetings. You have to do your homework beforehand, understand the issues, know the history, have the facts and be able to ask questions that clarify the choices. Often it is useful to have legal training and understand the interaction between policies and mandatory legal requirements.

Peter Bernstein has demonstrated that he has these qualities. He is a leader in the fight for the New Lebanon School. He is focused on the long-term achievement of all our students and the success of our school district. He is a seasoned, experienced member of the Board who knows what it takes to get things done in Greenwich.

Please join me in reelecting Peter Bernstein on Tuesday Nov. 7.

Jim Lash
Chairman, BET Budget Committee
First Selectman 2003-2007
