In recognition of Halloween, Audubon Greenwich offers three different programs this weekend aimed at connecting the community to nature with a special spooky flare. Public Programs Manager, Eli Schaffer shares in the excitement around their current season. “The Autumn is my favorite time of year,” says Schaffer, “we kick things off with our Fall Festival and Hawk Watch, and have truly spectacular foliage for weeks as the weather changes, but my favorite part of the fall is the joyfulness and spirit of Halloween. Everyone gets to dress up, be goofy, and enjoy the autumn air. When you think about it, it’s really the only holiday that basically requires people to get outside!” he adds. “We have two Autumn nights of all-hallows-eve fun, and three awesome programs to please everyone!” Tickets are available at the door, or online for a discount at greenwich.audubon.org/events.

The Frightful Forest haunted walk gives adults and brave children a chance to venture along a one-mile trail that leads from meadow to forest as they explore haunted tableaus and creatures of the night jump out to test how brave they really are. The Frightful Forest is open from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28.

A Creepy-Crawly-Creature Show will showcase some of our favorite Halloween animals including snakes, Bearded Dragons, Spiders and more. Shows are offered at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday only, and space is limited.

This year Audubon Greenwich is introducing a third program especially for younger audiences. The Enchanted Orchard gives children aged two to eight a chance to show off their costumes as they walk through their meadow and meet some of their favorite animals and characters. “We will have a few of our Disney favorites, in addition to friendly native animals to say hello to,” Schaffer describes. This program is guaranteed to be scare-free. The Enchanted Orchard is open from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday only, and will conclude with crafts and a short animal show.

All three programs are complimented by bonfires with S’mores for sale, and a bake sale.
