Letter: Tarkingtons for Toner

lettertotheeditor

To the Editor,

John Toner has dedicated two decades to Town service, three years as our Town Selectman and seventeen years as a member of the RTM. He is familiar with Greenwich government leadership.  With John’s intelligence and stature he has the confidence of all with whom he has worked.

As a Selectman, John strives to retain the Town’s premier residential character as a community with distinct neighborhoods. As a member of the Board of Selectmen, he appoints persons who carry out these ideals. John listens to Town employees and Town residents. He has the commitment and demeanor to support First Selectman Peter Tesei as a member of the Board of Selectmen.

John is highly qualified for the position of Selectman. He brings a business background of twenty-seven years in the global banking business with Chase Manhattan. He has hands-on familiarity with a large organization and its management and personnel requirements. Previously, John had been a teacher. He is patient and respectful in dealings with his colleagues and Town residents.

As an outstanding volunteer and board leader to Town non-profit organizations including Greenwich Hospital and its Auxiliary, Call-A-Ride, Transportation Association of Greenwich, the Book Swap at Holly Hill, and his church, John has been elected President multiple times. He provides to the Board of Selectmen perspective from his interactions with public-private partnerships which support Town residents’ needs.

John is an experienced government and business leader and a community volunteer. We highly value his current service as a Selectman. We ask you to join us in voting for John Toner to serve another term as Selectman.

Leslie and Marcus Tarkington
