Teen Fundraiser to Benefit Hurricane Victims

tag-sale-2

On Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. Paul’s Episcopal Church High School Group will be organizing a multi-family tag sale at the church with all proceeds going to victims of the recent hurricanes. The church will provide the tables, venue and marketing for families from the parish and community who will be ‘renting’ space to sell items.

All funds raised at the sale will go to Episcopal Relief and Development, a 75-year-old charitable organization that is currently providing emergency relief to those in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria as well as ongoing support to those affected by Hurricane Irma in Florida and Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

“At a time when all Americans are working together to respond to the numerous natural disasters affecting our country, it is particularly heartwarming to see young people of faith helping to make a difference in the lives of others,” says Rev. Stephanie Johnson. “As a church community, we strive to live into our core belief of ‘loving our neighbors as ourselves,’ whether they are neighbors in Texas, Puerto Rico or Florida. We are grateful that our teens are leading the way in this effort.”

For more information about the tag sale, contact St. Paul’s Teen Group Leader Joanne Gorka, joanne.gorka@gmail.com or contact the church at 203-636-2447. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 200 Riverside Ave.
