The Drawing Room Gallery presents “Propelling Wonder,” a solo exhibit of new abstract oil paintings by Cameron Schmitz. This exhibition is on view at The Drawing Room Gallery and opens on Sept. 30, coinciding with an artist’s opening reception that same day, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This new exhibit features Schmitz’s dynamic abstract paintings, lush with color harmonies and mark-making. This featured body of work contains intensely colored palettes inspired by the flora of New England during summer. She states, “I use mark-making to express the constantly moving, changing, and morphing of life and nature, leaving observers certain that they are witnessing merely a fleeting moment in time.”

Schmitz grew up in Stamford and Cos Cob, where she attended the Greenwich School systems all the way through high school. She received her MFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and BFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of New Hampshire, in addition to studying Art and Art History at Studio Arts Centers International in Florence, Italy. Schmitz now resides with her family in Western Massachusetts where she maintains her studio and is also a painting instructor at the River Gallery School in Brattleboro, Vt.

“Propelling Wonder” runs through Nov. 29. The Drawing Room is located at 5 Suburban Ave. and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please call 203-661-3737 or visit thedrawingroomhome.com
