Senator Frantz Releases Statement on Connecticut Budget

Today State Senator and Co-Chairman of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, L. Scott Frantz (R-Greenwich), released the following statement regarding the failure of the democrats to produce a workable budget to be voted on by the General Assembly:

“Unfortunately what we have seen tonight is a complete lack of leadership by the majority in this building, a majority that once again tried to push major tax increases onto the businesses and hard-working families of Connecticut,” said Sen. Frantz. “Senate Republicans have had a balanced, line-by-line budget that was ready to be debated and voted on today, and that would have prevented the Draconian cuts to cities and towns called for by the governor.”

“Now more than ever it is time for the majority party to sit down, in good-faith, and help craft a budget together, a budget that puts forward the structural changes that are needed to turn our state around – changes that are found right within our own budget,” added Frantz.
