Several new appointments were made within Greenwich Public Schools’ administration over the summer months as part of the school district’s preparations for the 2017-2018 school year.

Last month, John Grasso, a former Principal of Riverside School and the Interim Parkway School Principal during the 2016-2017 school year, was appointed as Interim Principal for Hamilton Avenue School.

“I look forward to working with John Grasso to continue the impressive headway made at Hamilton Avenue School as they implement the STEM magnet program,” Superintendent of Schools Jill Gildea said in an online statement.

As well, the appointment of Jeffrey Libby as Parkway School Assistant Principal, went effective on July 1. According to GPS’s online release, Libby had previously been the district’s Special Education Program Coordinator since 1999,

“Mr. Libby has had a long and distinguished career as a special educator and administrator in the Greenwich Public Schools,” incoming Parkway Principal Mary-Teresa Grandville said in an online statement. “His extensive experience, excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of the Parkway School community will serve him well in his new role.”

The Special Education Program Coordinator position was subsequently filled by Carolyn Borcherding, a Special Education Coach and Summer School Site Supervisor for GPS since 2015.

“Carrie has proven to be an asset to Greenwich High School through her role as a special education coach and IEP meeting facilitator,” Director of Pupil Personnel Services Mary Forde said regarding Borcherding in a statement posted on the GPS website. “I am confident she will bring her instructional and organizational skills to her new role as Special Education Administrator for the benefit of the whole district.”

Lorianne O’Donnell, formerly the Assistant Vice President of Financial Planning for Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y., has been named the Chief Operating Officer for GPS.

“I am honored and excited to be joining the Greenwich Public Schools team and look forward to partnering with our Board, senior leaders and administration to help advance the District’s priorities and meet the goals of our 2015-2020 Strategic Plan,” O’Donnell said in a statement as part of the online update about her hiring.

Most recently, Robert L. Hibson was announced as the Greenwich Public Schools Library Media Services Coordinator. Hibson was previously an Instructional Technology/Media Specialist with Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School in Old Lyme.

“Mr. Hibson brings an extensive knowledge of current practice and research in the field of technology and library media programs,” Deputy Superintendent Ann Carabillo said in an online statement about Hibson’s hiring. “His expertise, combined with his passion to have an affirmative impact on teaching and learning with staff and student learners, will have a positive influence on our blended learning environment.”
