Cynthia Joyce (Wood) Spiers, a longtime resident of Greenwich-Stamford before relocating to Cocoa, Fla., entered into rest on the evening of Thursday, July 13.

Cindy was born Nov. 29, 1944, and was one of eight children of the late Kenneth and Florence (Weaver) Wood.

In Florida, she was employed by Atlantis Elementary School in Cocoa for 15 years.

Cindy leaves behind her loving children: her daughter Shelly Torres and her son Douglas Spiers and his wife, Brandi; six grandchildren: James Lavertue; Rebecca, Raulie and Damien Torres; and Cassandra and Alexandra Slaughter; and two great-grandchildren, Bentley James Lavertue and Jase Allen Doughty.

She is also survived by two brothers: Barry Wood (Deb) of Greenwich and Donald Wood of Glendive, Mont., and 23 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her infant son, Kelly, her brothers Kenneth W. Jr., Gerald C., Richard A., and Gary C. Wood, and a sister, Theodora (Teddi Wood) DeLeo.
