The Greenwich Preservation Trust will be hosting an informational meeting, on Wednesday, July 26, for the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation on the recent NEC Future announcement by the Federal Railroad Administration on plans to expand and construct high-speed rail infrastructure through Fairfield County. These plans include a new rail corridor and right of way between New Rochelle and Greens Farms which poses extraordinary and significant impacts to economic, historic, and environmental resources across region.

Guest speaker Gregory Stroud, Director of Special Projects at the Connecticut Trust, and Wes Haynes, Project Director, and point person for the Connecticut Trust in southwest Connecticut, will present a brief overview of the NEC Future planning to date, touch on the key issues, and provide a broad timeline and roadmap for the project moving forward. There will be ample time provided for questions and feedback, with the goal of improving coordination and communication on the issue, and laying the groundwork for a broader regional response.

The meeting will be held at Greenwich Town Hall’s Cone Room, 2nd floor, at 1 p.m.
