The Art & History Summer Camp, based at the Bush-Holley Historic Site and operated by the Greenwich Historical Society, offers a highly interactive, two-week experience for kids entering grades 2-7. Grades 4-7: July 10-14, colonial life; July 17-21, art immersion. Grades 2-4: July 24-28, colonial life; July 31-Aug. 4, art immersion.

During the history-focused weeks, campers learn about colonial life in the c.1730 Bush-Holley House; take a field trip to another historic site; have hands-on activities like baking, soap- and candle making, and weaving; and stage a performance. With so many stories to tell, the site offers a lively and inspiring glimpse of what it was like to live in times past.

The second week for both age groups emphasizes fine art techniques with instruction in painting, pastels, drawing, collage, and sculpture in reference to the American Impressionist art colony that was headquartered at the Holley boarding house. Campers also take a museum field trip and stage a performance.

The professional camp staff includes museum educators, working artists, musicians, re-enactors, and counselors who have a special interest in art and history.

Camp hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The price is $700 for two weeks, $450 for one week, plus $65 membership fee. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Register at greenwichhistory.org/camp. For more information call 203-869-6899, ext. 32.
