First Bank of Greenwich ventured out of state recently when they held a second women’s leadership network gathering. The event, held at Neiman Marcus in The Westchester mall in White Plains, NY, featured a strong turnout for an event that was considered to be social, said Emily Newcamp, AVP, Retail Banking Manager, First Bank of Greenwich.

Newcamp said the first women’s network event was held at J House in Greenwich, but with First Bank of Greenwich attracting customers from Westchester County, she felt it was a great opportunity to have something to support Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital of Valhalla, NY.

“This was shopping for a cause,” she said. “It was more social but it was a great chance to benefit the hospital.”

Newcamp added that Neiman Marcus stayed open late for the purpose of the event. Regular shoppers could also peruse the high-end retailer, who normally close their doors at 7 p.m.

“We think it went really well,” Newcamp added. “We received only positive responses.”

She described it also as a night of “hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and donations.”

Food was provided by the store, which has a restaurant on-site, while Val’s Putnam Wines & Liquors of Greenwich contributed wine. Sparkling Pointe Vineyard from Long Island donated champagne.

But lest one think this was purely a Westchester County event, Newcamp made it clear that this was about community and charity.

“Tying it to the hospital was important,” she said. “We really want to get more involved with the community and more organizations. This was our first event that benefits others.”

That desire to help others has grown out of how well previous events have been attended.

“We work with so many great women, she said. “We want to do something special. There are a lot of motivated women.”

Yet again, to be clear, Newcamp says Greenwich is where they are, in name and location.

“I’d like to do more events like that, and more local” she said.

It’s extremely important,” she added. “We’re a community bank. We set ourselves apart because we are a true community bank. We want to give back to the community because they’ve been so great to us.”

First Bank of Greenwich’s website, greenwichfirst.com, says that “The mission of The First Bank of Greenwich Women’s Leadership Network was created to provide an environment with opportunity for women in our community to come together and exchange ideas, share business tips and engage in positive conversation to spur creativity and leadership. As we support one another in our business & philanthropy endeavors we encourage partnership that builds bridges for success.”

The Neiman Marcus store in White Plains has served as the anchor for The Westchester since the mall opened in 1995, but in truth, the mall built itself around the store, as the White Plains location opened in 1972, surrounded by other commerce.

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, located at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, treats approximately 20,000 patients per year since its opening in 2004. Among its highlights is being the only Level 1 (highest level) Trauma Center in the Hudson Valley region with Medevac Helicopter and Mobile Intensive Care Ground Transport.

Bringing it back to the White Plains-based event, Newcamp said over 75 people attended the evening at Neiman Marcus, which she was pleased with.

“It was nice,” she said. “It was smaller than some events than we’ve done. It was intimate, with a perfect atmosphere to talk to people.”

Fear not, though, as Newcamp said future First Bank of Greenwich events will be closer to home. She’s hopeful there will be one more before the end of 2017.
