Greenwich will be in the pink on Sunday, April 30 as hundreds of supporters — from toddlers to grandparents — sprint and stroll their way through town during Breast Cancer Alliance’s Annual 5K Run/Walk for Hope. Dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives to the disease and honoring the courage of breast cancer survivors, the event brings together families, friends and neighbors from Connecticut, New York and beyond.

“The 5K Run/Walk for Hope never ceases to amaze me,” said Yonni Wattenmaker, Executive Director, Breast Cancer Alliance (BCA). “Seeing people of all ages join together in support of BCA’s mission is inspiring. I’m grateful to our tireless co-chairs, Lisa Fleming, Mary Jeffery, Courtney Olsen and Susan Weis, as well as our sponsors—especially Omnicom, who has been by our side for so many years.”

Wattenmaker will present Dennis Hewitt, Treasurer of Omnicom Group, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Omnicom Capital Inc., with the Breast Cancer Alliance HOPE Award for the generosity the company he has served for nearly 30 years has shown the organization. For the past 12 years, Omnicom, a leading marketing and global communications company, has supported the 5K Run/Walk for Hope as lead platinum sponsor, setting an example of giving that other organizations have followed.

“BCA’s mission is inspiring and it’s been an honor for Omnicom and our employees to support the fight against breast cancer,” said Dennis Hewitt, Treasurer, Omnicom Group, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Omnicom Capital, Inc.,“Most of us have a sister, wife, mother or friend who has suffered from this awful form of cancer. Thanks to organizations like BCA, we have made great progress towards increasing survival rates but we must continue the fight until we achieve total victory.”

“We are tremendously appreciative of the support BCA has received from Dennis and Omnicom over the past 12 years,” said BCA President Mary Jeffrey. “The company’s sponsorship of events such as this helps BCA improve survival rates and quality of life for those impacted by breast cancer as well as fund innovative research and train future breast surgeons. These contributions, and those of our other wonderful sponsors, are put directly to work.”

The 5K Run/Walk for Hope kicks off and ends at Richards on Greenwich Avenue. Check-in and walk-in registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K run begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the start of the 1-mile walk at 8:45 a.m. Celebrate afterwards with breakfast, prizes and activities for little ones courtesy of Z Hospitality Group and PepsiCo.
