NSDAR Secretary General Visits Putnam Cottage

In February, The Putnam Hill Chapter – Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) welcomed Ann Turner Dillion, Secretary General of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) to the Knapp Tavern at Putnam Cottage.DAR members hosted a reception and a docent led tour of the Tavern.

Dillion was accompanied by Alice Ridgeway, Connecticut State Regent. Both attended the State Conference celebrating the 125 Anniversary of the Daughters of the American Revolution held in Wallingford. Ridgeway spoke of the need for the State to reach out effectively to Chapters and Chapters to reach out effectively to their communities.

In doing this, the Putnam Hill Chapter takes the opportunity to educate the community about the founding objective of the DAR: to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence, to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion, and to foster patriotic citizenship.
