The American Red Cross has long been a fixture across the country and in Greenwich to provide assistance to those in need.
The local heroes of the American Red Cross Metro New York Chapter who are headquartered in Cos Cob, continue to provide lifesaving services through their blood drives, sheltering those in need of assistance during disasters or fires, providing training in life safety skills, as well as support to military members, veterans and their families.
So it was appropriate that on March 23, First Selectman Peter J. Tesei presented a proclamation to Metro New York Chapter officials and volunteers declaring March as “American Red Cross Month” in Greenwich.
“Day in and day out, the outstanding staff and volunteers of the American Red Cross provide invaluable aid to those in need of assistance. The dedication of the volunteers and staff in Greenwich could not have been more evident as it was during the devastation and aftermath of Super Storm Sandy,” First Selectman Tesei said.
Participating in the proclamation presentation at Town Hall were Red Cross staff and board members, as well as volunteers.
