‘Prom Project’ Dress Distribution to Take Place This Week

dsc_0047

This year marks the fourth annual “Prom Project,” a collaboration between Neighbor to Neighbor and Greenwich High School’s Former Attire Club. The event provides prom dresses at no cost to area high school students who may otherwise struggle to afford their high cost. In addition to floor length and cocktail length gowns, “Prom Project” participants will be treated to shoes, accessories, strapless bras, cosmetics and handmade jewelry by a local student. Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New England’s Greenwich office is generously providing gift certificates for manicures and pedicures. Taryn Gosch is donating cosmetics on behalf of Willa Doss of Willa Doss Skincare. A limited number of tuxedos also will be available.

The free distribution will take place on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the historic Tomes Higgins House on the campus of Christ Church Greenwich, 216 East Putnam Ave. Students are asked to bring a Student ID.

Former Attire Club co-Presidents Kate Piotrowski and Audrey Brandes are excited to work on this event for their second year. “We set up a mock store at the Tomes Higgins House with dressing rooms, music, refreshments and racks of donated new and gently used dresses. It’s the most rewarding and fun experience,” says Audrey. “There is no better feeling than helping someone find a prom dress.”

Neighbor to Neighbor is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization providing access to nutritious food, gently used in-season clothing and household items to area residents in need. For more information, contact Nancy Coughlin, Executive Director at 203-622-9208 or visit ntngreenwich.org
