Flotilla 78 Offers ‘About Boating Safely’ Classes

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 78 will hold “About Boating Safely” class, an eight-hour course that meets the CT Boating Education requirement, on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Greenwich Water Club at 49 River Rd.

Learn from the experts, have fun, and satisfy the educational requirements for both the Safe Boating Certificate and Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operations required to operate vessels on Connecticut waters. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary About Boating Safely class is a comprehensive one-day, NASBLA-approved course that covers all major aspects of safe boating, including choices of boats, safety equipment, Connecticut boating laws, boat handling, radio communications, personal watercraft operation, and more. Many insur­ance companies offer discounts on boat insurance policies for boaters that have completed a safe boating course also.

Other classes will be held March 19, April 1 and 23, May 13, June 3 and 17, July 9 and 29, and Aug. 13

Before taking the CT Boating Safely course, one must first obtain a CT Conservation Number. If you have a hunting or fishing license, your Con­servation number will be the same ID number that was assigned with either of these licenses.
