Although the snow is winding down throughout the tri-state area, Greenwich and the surrounding towns were hit hard by today’s strong winter storm.

Several people have sent over some measurements to the Sentinel and it looks like Greenwich currently has seen an average of eight to 10 inches of snow. Some places have a little lower total, some are larger (check out the photo to the right).

According to the National Weather Service, today’s snow storm should wind down later in the afternoon. However, the winds will persist well into the evening. In addition to the strong winds, the temperatures are going to sink even lower. The low for overnight will be 15 degrees and with the wind chill, it will feel anywhere from five to 10 degrees.

If you have to go out and shovel, click here and read the Greenwich Sentinel article back from Jan. 23, 2016 about how to avoid a trip to the emergency room.

While you are outside, the Greenwich Sentinel would like your pictures from the snow storm. Whether you’re shoveling, sledding, shopping or enjoying a nice walk along one of the town’s parks or beaches, we would like pictures from the storm. We will put them in next week’s paper and also put them on our web site.

Email photos to editor@greenwichsentinel.com, or share them with us on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages.
