The Greenwich High School gymnastics team hosted two teams from Fairfield Thursday night at the Greenwich YWCA and came away with two big victories.
Against Fairfield Ludlowe High School and Fairfield Warde High School, Big Red finished the meet with a score of 142.15. Ludlowe took second overall with 132.3 and the Mustangs netted third with 117.2.
In the all-around, the meet belonged to Adnerys DeJesus, as she took first place in all four events and ended the night with an overall score of 38.25. Her best performance was on vault, where DeJesus took home a score of 9.7. Not to be outdone on bars, DeJesus netted a score of 9.65 and also took home a score of 9.5 on the floor exercise. Rounding out here day on beam, DeJesus was golden with a score of 9.4.
Also stepping up in a big way was Kelsey Fedorko, as she netted second place scores across the board and finished with a total of 36.5. Her top score took place on floor, where she grabbed a score of 9.2. On both the bars and vault, Fedorko took home scores of 9.15 and on beam she netted a silver and a score of 9.0.
For DeJesus, she left Thursday’s meet with a season-best score on both vault and all-around, while Fedorko took home a season-best score on both floor and bars.
In addition to DeJesus and Fedorko, the Lady Cardinals also had some other stellar performances. Gianna Cardini was third all-around, posting a score of 33.7. She took home a third-place score of 8.45 on vault. Teammate Jessica Freiheit also had a third-place performance, posting a score of 9.0 on bars.
With the victory, GHS upped its overall record to 7-1 on the season.
