Paintings by international artist, Sholeh Janati, are decorating the walls at Meli-Melo Creperie & Juice Bar at 362 Greenwich Ave. now through Feb. 21, to benefit Greenwich United Way.

Janati will donate 15% from sales to the organization’s women’s initiative, Sole Sisters, which promotes “women stepping up to help others step forward” and hosts an annual luncheon at Greenwich Country Club to raise funds for Greenwich United Way partners and programs.

This year’s Sole Sisters Luncheon Co-Chairs, Diane Viton and Jaime Eisenberg, are thankful for the support of local businesses and are working to continue this positive momentum until the initiative’s 12th Annual Luncheon scheduled for the third week in April. “We kick started planning for this year’s Luncheon in October at the Grand Opening event for Saks 10022-SHOE in Greenwich and we’re so honored to have a local institution like Meli-Melo and talented artist such as Sholeh to help us keep the momentum going” said Viton.

Janati’s renowned works were originally recognized by Persian traditionalists and can be found in Europe, the Middle East and North America. Born in Tehran, she adopted the United States as her home in 1988 and as her paintings grew in prominence, Janati’s work in still life, nudes, portraits, and abstract paintings has earned her praise from a variety of American and European critics.

“Collectors of my work appreciate that my paintings provide a constant interaction with the viewer,” said Janati. She continued, “You will discover new dynamics and dimensions in each piece. In this sense, the viewer finds each work as an expression of their own artistic vision.” Janati is a member of the Loft Artist Association in Stamford, Connecticut and regularly shows in Manhattan and throughout Fairfield County.
