The Greenwich Police Department will be honoring four in their department at a promotion ceremony next week.

On Thursday at the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex, located at 11 Bruce Place, Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey will be recognizing Sgt. Mark Zuccerella, Sgt. Louis Pannone, Master Police Officer Michael Ucci and Master Police Officer Danielle Petruso.

“We are excited for this great opportunity for these most deserving officers to be promoted,” Greenwich Police Chief Jim Heavey said. “Lt. Pannone is a long-serving sergeant who started his career as a police dispatcher and served as a special police office before becoming a full-time police officer. Prior to his promotion, he served as a patrol supervisor. Lieutenant Zuccerella is another long-serving sergeant who has been the commanding office for the Special Victims Section and has been very involved in a number of community policing initiatives, including the juvenile review board.”

For Zuccerella, being honored like this is a dream come true and helps him continue his journey through the Greenwich Police Department.

“I’m honored that I am able to partake in it,” Zuccerella said. “Now that the day has come, I am looking forward to the next step in being in more of a leadership role in the department. I am really happy. I am not an overly screaming and yelling guy when I get happy, but I am ecstatic. By myself I smile when I think about it and try to keep calm. It’s something I’ve always wanted and I didn’t think I was going to get it because it’s kind of a big position here.”

In addition to working for the GPD, both Pannone and Zuccerella also call Greenwich their home.

“Sergeants Ucci and Petruso are outstanding officers who served as master police officers in the patrol division,” Heavey said. “Both Ucci and Petruso have been recognized numerous times for excellent police work and their life-saving efforts.”

The event will kick off at 5 p.m.

“We look forward to these four supervisors’ leadership skills to making a significant impact on the direction of the department,” Heavey said.
