Brunswick Swimming Beats Hackley School, 87-69

The Brunswick School swimming team continued its winning ways, moving to 6-0 on the season following a 87-69 road win over Hackley on Friday. The Bruins swept all 11 swimming events, including all three relays.

In the relays, the team of Cole Pierce, Thacher Scannell, Christian Farricker and Keegan Drew won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.42.

In the 200-yard freestyle, the quartet of Marcus Hodgson, James Simone, Will Powers and Alex Morgan won the race in 1:36.31. Not to be outdone was the 400-yard relay team.

In the final relay event, Brunswick took first and second place. Drew, Simone, Farricker and Scannell won the event with a time of 3:26.94, while the Bruin team of Pierce, Hodgson, Powers and Morgan touched the wall at 3:27.66.

Farricker had a stellar day individually. Competing in the 500-yard freestyle, he took home gold with a time of 4:49.31. Also in the 100-yard backstroke he finished first, netting a time of 55.50 seconds.

Scaannell also was a dual winner individually. In the 200-yard individual medley, Shannell touched the wall first overall, netting a time of 2:05.37. He was also golden in the 100-yard breaststroke, pacing the field for top honors.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Hodgson was golden with a time of 1:46.56 and he returned to his winning ways during the 100-yard butterfly, grabbing a time of 54.37.

Drew took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 23.09, while Powers couldn’t be stopped in the 100-yard freestyle, netting a time of 51.91.

Brunswick returns to action on Jan. 21, hosting Hotchkiss at Mehra Natatorium.
