In a hard-fought meet Friday afternoon, the Greenwich High School boys’ swimming and diving team came up victorious against Ridgefield High School 106-79.

“Overall, we swam a very good meet for this early in the season,” said GHS head coach Terry Lowe. “We took our share of first places against a very good team and we made our depth pay off.”

It was the GHS captains that helped pace the way to victory. Aedan Lewis helped Big Red by winning the 100-meter freestyle, posting a time of 55.40 seconds. In addition, Lewis took home top honors in the 200-meter individual medley, posting a time of 2:13.92.

He also was on the 200-meter medley relay, along with teammates Matthew Li, fellow captain Patrick Clisham and Conrad Moss and they took home the gold with a time of 1:51.02.

Clisham and Lewis also kept the good times rolling in the 200-meter freestyle relay, as they joined Moss and Andres Ruh for a first-place time of 1:41.56.

Ryan Lynch added another individual gold medal for Greenwich High in the 100-meter breaststroke, grabbing the gold medal with a time of 1:10.57. Right on Lynch’s heels was teammate Thomas Lewis, who touched the wall second overall with a time of 1:10.91.

When it came to diving, no one had a better day than Justin Sodokoff, as he set a new Greenwich High School record and took first overall with 370.75 points. That was good enough to best the record set by Connor Brisson in 2011 by nearly six point.

“I did not think I would ever see that record broke,” Lowe said. “Only two of our divers, in a long history of All-Americans, have ever topped 320, and those scores both occurred in meets held in New Hampshire, where the Northern New England judges have consistently been more generous with their awarded points. With this meet in a Connecticut pool, Justin’s record was especially impressive.”
