District 7 of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting is looking to fill a vacancy at their Thursday, Jan. 12 meeting (at 7:45 in the meeting room on the second floor of Town Hall). Candidates need to be residents of District 7 and registered voters.
District 7 stretches from the Post Road north to Pecksland Road and includes the Rock Ridge neighborhood and the south part of Lake Avenue. It reaches east to Old Church Road and west to Glenville Road.
The RTM, which meets monthly (eight times) from September through June, is the Town’s legislative body. Among other tasks, the RTM votes on the approval of labor contracts and funding of town projects. Members serve (on a non-partisan basis) for two years around the local November election cycle.
“The involvement of local citizens is extremely important,” according to John Dolan, the District 7 Chair. “The Town of Greenwich budget is facing competing demands and the RTM members have a vital role to play in deciding how funds are allocated.”
