Thirty-five members of the Stamford Photography Club were chosen to show their work in an exhibit titled “Near and Far: Inspiration through my Lens.” The show was juried by Tatiana Mori, Curator of the Bendheim Gallery at Greenwich Arts Council, Paul Master-Karnik, Director of the GAC and Dorianne Samuels, owner of Dorianne Hutton Fine Art. The opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bendheim Gallery, 299 Greenwich Ave. The exhibit will run through Jan. 11, 2017.

The photographers in the show chose the title “Near and Far: Inspiration through my Lens” because they feel they are at a point where they are constantly seeing and composing photographs in their mind or with their camera, whether it’s while traveling in an exotic foreign country or sitting in their backyard. Annie Leibovitz once said: “One doesn’t stop seeing. One doesn’t stop framing. It doesn’t turn off and turn on. It’s on all the time.” The photographs are for sale and proceeds will go to the Greenwich Arts Council. Seventy-one works in both black and white and color have been chosen for the exhibition, depicting a great variety of subject matter, both natural and abstract. The show, in fact, represents a strong overview of contemporary photography today.

Established in 1945, the Stamford Photography Club is made up of about 75 members who share a passion for photography. Considered a leading photography club in the Fairfield/Westchester county area, members meet twice monthly; one meeting is a competition the other an educational program.

Gallery hours are: Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m. Closed Mondays.
