Toddlers are welcome to explore at the Bruce Museum. A new, hour-long program for toddlers, ages 10 months to two years old, and their caregivers, “Bruce Beginnings, Jr,” provides hands-on play and exploration in the museum’s galleries on the second Thursday of each month from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The program is free with admission and no advance registration is required.

“Activities are inspired by and take place among the art or science displays, making it a great opportunity to foster visual learning and development of your little one,” explains Laura Stricker, a Museum educator and manager who organizes the sessions.

The next Bruce Beginnings, Jr. program, on Nov.10, explores everything black, white and gray in the Bruce’s newest exhibition “Towards Abstraction, 1940-1985: Brett Weston Photographs from the Bruce Museum Collection.” Activities for this session include abstract sculpture building, mural coloring and felt shape play.

“All activities are free flowing and encourage caregiver-child interaction,” Stricker adds. “There is also plenty of time to meet and connect with other participants.”

The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Dr. For more information, visit brucemuseum.org or call 203-869-0376.
