Tickets sold out fast to the Neighbor to Neighbor’s Undies Project’s “Cocktails & Comedy” with Jane Condon. The event was held at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich’s Fellowship Hall, a space that was filled to capacity on Oct. 1.

During the cocktail hour guests enjoyed hors d’ouevres prepared by Aux Délices and a signature Pomegranate Blood Orange Martini designed especially for The Undies Project at Neighbor to Neighbor by Debra Ponzek of Aux Délices. Live music was provided by pianist Douglas Kurz.

The night unfolded with a silent auction with an array of enticing items, which raised over $6,000. Co-founders Laura Delaflor and Lucy Langley shared the story of how The Undies Project was born in a style in keeping with the comedy theme of the night. “Once upon a time in a land not far away, actually, just down the post road,” said, Delaflor, “a volunteer at Neighbor to Neighbor had an epiphany. While sorting clothes in the dungeon, she wondered how less fortunate people could afford to buy undergarments.”

“Imagine if you had to make the choice between putting a meal on the table for your family or buying new underwear?” Langley asked the audience. “The Goal of The Undies Project is to help families not to have to make that choice.”

Jane Condon kept the crowd laughing for 45 minutes with her usual witty take on family, friends and Greenwich. “I love these two women, Lucy & Laura. What a great cause!,” said Condon.

Cocktails & Comedy was a huge success and raised over $16,000. “We are amazed at the generosity of people, and how much they support this cause,” Delaflor said.

The money will be used to fulfill the specific needs of the Neighbor to Neighbor families by purchasing new underwear. For more information, visit theundiesproject.com or ntngreenwich.org.
