The Drawing Room Art Gallery will host an Opening Reception of its upcoming exhibition, “David Dunlop: Visual Journeys.” This solo show celebrates the recent work of David Dunlop and his dynamic range of subjects, examining the varying and mysterious ways in which he vividly expresses light, place, and time through his painting. In conjunction with the opening of this exhibition, the artist will be giving a talk on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m., followed by the Gallery’s Opening Reception. The events are free and open to the public.

Artist, lecturer and teacher, David Dunlop is the engaging host and Emmy Award-winning writer of the 13-episode PBS television series, Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop. Dunlop is a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science.

Born in St. Louis, Dunlop attended the College of Wooster, majoring in Philosophy and English Literature. After extensive travels through Europe, studies at the Art Students League, and a concentration in Printmaking at Robert Blackburn’s Studio in New York, he went on to receive his MFA from Pratt Institute.

In the late 1970’s Dunlop moved to Connecticut where he began teaching at Silvermine Arts Center, where he continues to teach today.

The exhibit runs through Jan. 21, 2017. The Drawing Room Art Gallery is located at 5 Suburban Ave., Cos Cob, and is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. For more information, visit thedrawingroomhome.com
