Kicking off the Saturday Homecoming events, the Brunswick water polo team defeated Staples H.S., 17-1, in Mehra Natatorium.

The Bruins dispatched the Wreckers earlier in the week on the road, 19-4. Co-captain Will Marvin and Simon Derby scored six and five goals, respectively, for Brunswick (15-1).

In the first quarter Marvin and Derby accounted for all seven goals for Brunswick, as Marvin notched four, while Derby netted three.

The Bruins added six more goals, as four different Bruins scored for a commanding 13-0 lead at intermission.

Brunswick added a trio of goals in the third quarter, taking a 16-0 lead into the final stanza.

The Homecoming faithful in Mehra Natatorium erupted on the Bruins’ final tally, as Kevin Tu notch his first career goal for Brunswick, setting the 17-1 final.

Co-captain Charlie Pang, Christian Hartch and Colin Wahl shared time in the nets, making a combined seven saves.

The Bruins return to Mehra Natatorium on Friday, Oct. 28, hosting Greenwich Hight School. The two teams have split the season series with one victory apiece, as the host school won each time. The JV game will begin at 5 p.m., as the Varsity game is scheduled to follow at 6.
