On Sept. 20, the members of the Mary Bush Society of the Children of the American Revolution met with First Selectman, Peter Tesei, to celebrate the 229th Anniversary of the drafting of the United States of America Constitution. Mr. Tesei issued a proclamation document in recognition of Constitution Day and it will be on display in Knapp Tavern/Putnam Cottage. Several members of the Putnam Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution also attended the event. The President of the Mary Bush Society, John Trudeau, gave an historical overview of the Constitution, and the DAR Regent, Mrs. Linda Tavlarios, gave a homework assignment to each member to read the Constitution and to have it signed by their parent and their teacher.
