It will be a busy weekend in the Greenwich High School pool, as the boy’s water polo team hosts its annual Cardinal Tournament.

And going by the amount of talented teams in the tourney, the winner will certainly earn the championship. Teams competing this year will be the Greenwich High School red, white and blue squads, Brunswick School, the YMCA of Greenwich, Gonzaga, Chelsea Piers, Staples High School, Navy Athletic Club and Mako/St. Francis.

The Cardinal Tournament gets underway Friday night, with the YMCA of Greenwich and Staples battling each other at 6 p.m. In the second game, Brunswick will be in action when they face off against the Greenwich High blue squad at 7.

An hour later, Gonzaga will hit the pool and take on Chelsea Piers. Finishing the Friday night schedule will be the Greenwich High red squad, as they will see familiar faces and take on the GHS white team at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s action kicks off bright and early, as Mako/St. Francis takes on the winner of Friday night’s Brunswick vs. Greenwich High blue game. An hour later the winner of Friday night’s YMCA of Greenwich and Staples will battle Navy.

Matches are scheduled at the top of every hour on Saturday until 7, when the consolation finals will take place. The championship match will take place at 8 p.m.

All games will be played at the GHS pool.
