Registration is open for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich 5th Annual Muddy Up 5K Run & Walk planned for Sunday, Oct. 2 at Camp Simmons, the Club’s 77-acre wilderness property in central Greenwich. This event is for runners and walkers of all ages who enjoy a competitive 3.1-mile adventure on wooded trails with natural and man-made obstacles and plenty of mud.

The Muddy Up race will not be timed and all participants will receive a hand-made medallion upon completing the course, which requires traipsing through 18 unique obstacles, crossing a rope bridge, plunging into a gigantic mud pit, and being ‘rinsed’ off by the Greenwich Fire Department at the finish line. Alternate pathways will also be provided.

Muddy Up race registration is $50 per person and is open online at bgcg.org/muddyup5k/. Individuals and teams are invited to participate and support the hundreds of children in our community who benefit from the club’s programs and facilities.

Every dollar raised supports the Club’s After-School Programs which provide economically challenged families with high quality, safe and affordable after-school care. The Club hopes the community will help reach this year’s goal of $125,000 by signing up as individuals or as a team with family members, work colleagues or friends.  The club also encourages local businesses to support the event.

“We are so pleased to see the community get behind this worthwhile event in so many ways, from lending a hand on the day of the race, to participating with a group of friends, to offering financial support,” note Muddy Up co-chairs and BGCG board members Friso van Reesema and Burt Hilton.
